Industrial Hygienist

Job Description

The County of Sacramento seeks an Industrial Hygienist (IH) to provide comprehensive Countywide IH services and guidance to the County and their employees. The IH provides consultation and direction to County departments on industrial hygiene and occupational health problems, integrates occupational health programs and concepts into standard safety programs, and performs difficult industrial hygiene and occupational health work. Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a Certificate in the Comprehensive Practice of Industrial Hygiene issued by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene, or a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers;


AND
 

Any combination of education, experience or training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. Typical ways to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Completion of major course work from a recognized college leading to a bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, environmental health, engineering, chemistry, biology, public health, or in a field directly related to occupational health and safety.


AND

EITHER:
 

1. A Master's Degree in industrial hygiene and two years experience in the full-time practice of industrial hygiene; 

OR:

2. Four years full-time experience in the practice of industrial hygiene.
