**Job Description**
AECOM is seeking a Senior Archaeologist for immediate employment in our Cultural Resource practice in northern California. The Senior Archaeologist, as a core member of the Cultural Resources practice, will report to the Environmental Planning and Permitting Manager for northern California. The Senior Archaeologist will be responsible for expanding the cultural resource team in the Sacramento office in coordination with AECOM’s northern California managers and senior cultural resources staff. This is an on-call position with the option of a hybrid work option.
**The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:**
+ Expanding the cultural resource team in Sacramento through identification, screening and recruitment of potential mid and senior level candidates.
+ Providing technical oversight for cultural resource tasks including fieldwork (survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring), archival research, technical report writing, state and federal archaeological permitting, data collection and compilation, and/or GIS mapping.
+ Providing cultural resource expertise related to state and federal environmental regulations, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act, among others.
+ Providing mentoring and career development for existing cultural resource staff in northern California.
+ Working collaboratively with the northern California cultural resources team on proposals, technical deliverables, and client support.
+ Pursuing innovation and a problem solving.
+ Technical oversight and review of technical approaches and cost estimates for proposals.

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Master's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or a closely related field plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Travel to the Sacramento AECOM office on a weekly basis as needed.
+ Travel to client meetings and field sites to support project and client needs.
+ Current valid driver’s license and U.S. government issued identification
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s professional qualification standards for Archaeology
+ Experience assisting agencies in complying with Sections 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
+ Demonstration of excellent technical writing skills, and verbal written communication skills.
+ Experience with career development of junior archaeologists.
+ Fifteen (10-15) years of experience in cultural resource management.
+ A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience.
+ Experience with evaluation of impacts and mitigation under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
+ Advanced knowledge in one or more specialty scientific areas
+ Experience in consulting with tribal representatives in northern California.
+ Experience supervising large and/or multiple crews on a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies.
+ Experience working with interdisciplinary team of subject matter experts
**Additional Information**
+ Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
+ Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly pay rate for this position is $43.00-$80.00 per hour.
