Job Description

Under general direction provided by the Information Technology Supervisor II, the incumbent is required to have a broad knowledge of PC desktop hardware and software; exercise a high degree of initiative, independence of action, and originality; demonstrate tact and exercise sound judgment that recognizes the best interests of the State and the division’s projects; communicate effectively; develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships; and easily adapt to changing priorities in the performance of their specific duties.


Duties Performed (
Candidates must perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodations.):

• Code, test, and debug applications that support the Division and its reporting functions.

• Analyze critical/complex databases, applications, and other production services such as, but not limited to: the Agile Payment System (APS), Property Tax Postponement, Local Government Reporting, and mainframe systems such as the Local Reimbursements System and Fiscal System. Develop and identify flow charts and documentation showing the interfaces, links, and interdependencies between all such systems supported by the divisions.

• Provide technical support for desktop computers and mobile devices, which include a wide variety of PC hardware platforms, software applications, and peripherals.

• Provide active directory work-group administration tasks specific to desktop access rights to network resources, viruses, and printing.

• Provide verbal and/or written instruction to customers in the proper use of equipment and software.

• Establish and maintain File Transfer Protocol (FTP) processes including the addition of new FTP processes and the resolution of FTP issues with the various agencies.

• Act as a resource on all aspects of software in terms of use, features, limitations, compatibility, and interoperability. Act as the contact for new purchases, licensing, maintenance, and advanced technical assistance.

• Coordinate repairs, procure, install, or remove and configure PCs and software applications.

• Analyze existing methods and develop business process improvements and technology solutions.

• Work with department staff, other state agencies, local governments, and Data Technology Services to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex problems related to our users’ systems connectivity for FTP data exchange, terminal definitions, system conversions, on-line access, and View Direct.
