Under general direction of the Supervisor I, Management Information Retrieval System (MIRS) Unit, the incumbent works at the full journey level, exercising a high degree of independence. The incumbent performs tasks associated with the development, maintenance, and enhancement of MIRS, and provides the customer service needed to assist MIRS users in departments and agencies throughout the state.

Help Desk and Customer Support:
- Independently serve as a MIRS technical consultant to Personnel and Payroll Services Division (PPSD) staff, as well as staff in the Information Systems Division (ISD), state agencies, and private contractors. Typical tasks include developing reports, providing report development assistance to department MIRS users, and conducting training and user group meetings.
- Assist MIRS users with system access, printer selection, and developing, deleting, and transferring user libraries, as well as troubleshooting database and system file download issues.
- Independently create and maintain MIRS user resources, including job aids, online training modules and materials, MIRS Handbook and other reference materials. Additionally, maintain MIRS Consultant resources such as the MIRS Desk Manual and other troubleshooting resources.
System Maintenance and Enhancements:
- Independently lead tasks and projects necessary to maintain MIRS.
- Typical tasks include updating, creating, and maintaining common library defines and reports. Research, troubleshoot, and document MIRS production issues and resolutions. Revise annual MIRS Update Calendar.
- Independently recommend and lead projects for the enhancement of MIRS. Typical tasks include clarifying customer needs, defining objectives, and determining outputs. Develop and execute system requirements and end-user test plans.
Communications:
- Develop and publish MIRS broadcast emails and letters to statewide departments. Maintain the MIRS web pages to ensure accuracy and content for departments. On an annual basis, provide departments with a survey on MIRS and compile the results for review with management.
