Code Enforcement Manager

Job Description

The Code Enforcement Manager class is the first level management class within the Code Enforcement Officer series. Classes in this series verify compliance with and enforcement of State and local codes pertaining to nuisance abatement; blight control; housing, zoning and vehicle violations; and other hazardous conditions. The Code Enforcement Manager class oversees the staff involved with code enforcement and works closely with representatives of elected officials, public safety and health departments at the local and state level. This class requires a high degree of professional skill and knowledge in administering and evaluating code enforcement programs and assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

Either:
1a. Two years of full-time paid experience in the class of Supervising Code Enforcement Officer in Sacramento County.

And

1b. Completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university with 18 semester or 27 quarter units in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or in a field related to the intent of this job class.

Or:

2a. Three years of full-time paid experience, two years of which must be at the supervisor level or higher, in a public sector environment, engaged in performing difficult, sensitive, and technical code enforcement, zoning enforcement, zoning administration, vehicle abatement, building inspection, or environmental health inspection;

And

2b. Completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university with 18 semester or 27 quarter units in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or in a field related to the intent of this job class.

Or:

3. Five years of full-time paid experience in a public sector environment, two years of which must be at the supervisor level or higher, engaged in performing difficult, sensitive, and technical code enforcement, zoning enforcement, zoning administration, vehicle abatement, building inspection, or environmental health inspection.
