Equipment Operator (Auburn)

Job Description

The Department of Public Works is currently accepting applications to fill a permanent/full-time vacancy for an Equipment Operator in Auburn.

This classification operates a variety of light to heavy equipment and power tools to perform excavation, hauling, road maintenance, and construction tasks, while assisting with basic equipment upkeep. Additionally, this position involves manual labor including resurfacing, drainage work, repairs, and material handling to support infrastructure maintenance projects.

Experience and Training 
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: 
  • Experience: Two (2) years of experience performing duties similar to a Maintenance Worker assigned to Roads with Placer County. 
  • Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Required License or Certificate:
  • May need to possess a valid driver's license as required by the position. Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required. 
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class B driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsements within six (6) months of employment. Hazardous materials endorsement may be required depending upon the position.
