Join us. **Job Description** AECOM is seeking a **Senior Geotechnical Engineer** to serve as a technical leader in Sacramento—at the center of California’s most critical water infrastructure initiatives. This role is ideal for an individual who combines strong technical expertise, project delivery leadership, and staff engagement to support and grow AECOM’s geotechnical practice across major programs such **as Sites Reservoir, Delta Conveyance Project, and the California Aqueduct Subsidence Program** . This is a high-visibility opportunity to help shape California’s water future through technical excellence, trusted client relationships, and leadership of multidisciplinary teams delivering complex infrastructure solutions. **Key Responsibilities** **Technical Leadership & Project Delivery** + Provide senior-level geotechnical expertise for complex water infrastructure projects, including dams, levees, tunnels, pipelines, and conveyance systems. + Lead geotechnical analyses, design development, and technical reviews for multidisciplinary infrastructure programs. + Supervise engineering during construction activities. + Oversee technical quality, engineering judgment, and compliance for deliverables, including review and approval of engineering work products. + Guide project planning, risk management, budget forecasting, and schedule development to support successful delivery. + Support innovative problem-solving and application of advanced geotechnical methods for challenging site and design conditions. + Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and professional development. + Help build and strengthen internal geotechnical capabilities through training, technical reviews, and knowledge sharing. **Client Engagement & Market Development** + Maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients across California’s water sector, serving as a trusted technical advisor. + Collaborate with regional and national leadership to strengthen AECOM’s geotechnical presence in dams, levees, tunnels, and conveyance markets. **Qualifications** **Minimum Requirements** + Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. + 10+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency. + Active California PE license. **Preferred Qualifications** + 15+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience with water infrastructure, dams, levees, tunnels, and conveyance systems. + Demonstrated experience leading technical delivery on complex public infrastructure projects. + Strong communication and presentation skills with public agencies and multidisciplinary teams. + Proven ability to mentor technical staff and lead project teams. + Project Management experience on complex public infrastructure programs. **Additional Information** **What We’re Looking For** + Technical leaders who can balance engineering excellence, project delivery, and client engagement. + Professionals who enjoy solving complex geotechnical challenges while building trusted client relationships. + Team-oriented leaders who mentor others and strengthen organizational capability. + Strong communicators who can translate technical complexity into practical, client-focused solutions.
