Compensation: $61,313 – $87,100 annual salary –Commensurate with experience


Position Summary:

The Communications & Outreach Coordinator supports public-sector consulting projects. The role delivers high-quality communications and community engagement services for transportation, infrastructure, tolling, and land-use planning programs.
This position bridges strategy and execution, supporting proposal development, contract compliance, and day-to-day outreach delivery. Work assignments will vary based on project needs and timelines and may include daytime, evening, or occasional weekend support for public meetings.
The Coordinator works closely with senior staff, designers, web developers, translators, and public agency partners to ensure outreach commitments made in proposals are implemented clearly, consistently, and on schedule.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support development of material for public-sector contracts/projects, including outreach approaches and graphics coordination.
  • Translate proposal commitments into contract-ready outreach plans, schedules, and task lists.
  • Draft, edit, and format outreach materials such as fact sheets, flyers, mailers, newsletters, presentations, email campaigns, social media content, and website/StoryMap content.
  • Manage coordination with graphic designers, web designers, and translators, providing clear direction, schedules, and review cycles to ensure materials are accurate, on-brand, accessible, multilingual where required, and delivered on time.
  • Coordinate translation, interpretation, ASL, and ADA accommodations for public meetings and outreach materials.
  • Coordinate logistics for public meetings, workshops, pop-ups, and stakeholder briefings, including in-person, hybrid, and virtual formats.
  • Support outreach to community-based organizations, advocacy groups, chambers, schools, libraries, and other local partners.
  • Assist with management of public-agency social media accounts, including content scheduling, monitoring, and moderation consistent with agency policies.
  • Track outreach activities, participation metrics, and deliverables; maintain organized records and support progress reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Planning, Journalism, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, outreach, or public engagement, preferably in a public-sector or professional services consulting environment.
  • Strong writing and editing skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite, and project-management tools such as Trello and Wrike.
  • Cultural competency and experience supporting inclusive, multilingual engagement.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting transportation, tolling, infrastructure, or land-use planning projects.
  • Familiarity with public-sector procurement, RFP/RFQ processes, and contract deliverables.
  • Experience coordinating translation, interpretation, and accessibility services.
  • Knowledge of Title VI, ADA, and environmental justice principles.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills (Spanish preferred).
