Human Services Supervisor

Job Description

Under direction, the Human Services Supervisor supervises, assigns, reviews, and monitors the work of staff responsible for the provision of customer social services and/or determinations and/or review of eligibility and benefit levels for one or more categories of public assistance, either through direct supervision of staff, or indirectly through program planning, administration and evaluation; ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and performs the more complex tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

Either: 1a. Two years of full-time, paid experience in the public or private sector, performing or reviewing public assistance delivery activities such as assessing customer needs, determining eligibility, determining appropriate actions and establishing case plans, monitoring customer progress, maintaining case records, or making referrals to other resources, agencies, or services;

AND

1b. A Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling or other field closely related to the intent of the class.

Or: 2. One year of full-time, paid experience employed by Sacramento County in the class of Eligibility Supervisor.

NOTE: Related fields above may include Behavioral Science, Child Development, Community Health Education, Cultural Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, Family Studies, Gerontology, Human Development, Mental Health, and Public Health.

NOTE: 
Additional experience as described in pattern 1a above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. (1 month of experience is equal to 2.5 semester (3.75 quarter) units).

Note: If the word “experience” is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.
