Architectual Designer/Project Manager

Position Summary

The Design Project Manager is responsible for guiding residential projects from contract signing through permit-ready plan submission. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the design phase and coordinates all design-related activities to ensure projects move efficiently toward permitting.

The Design Project Manager works closely with third-party design consultants, engineers, and internal team members to ensure architectural, structural, MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing), and construction-related documents are complete, accurate, code-compliant, and aligned with client expectations before permit submission.

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary client contact during the Pre-Construction phases.
• Manage project timelines from the point of contract execution through construction ready plans.
• Coordinate and oversee any and all 3rd party design firms
• Review all construction documents for completeness and accuracy to ensure the plans align with contract details.
• Verify that plan sets reflect client selections, project requirements, and agreed-upon design intent.
• Identify missing information, design conflicts, constructability concerns, and permitting issues before submission.
• Facilitate communication between clients, consultants, engineers, and internal staff.
• Track project milestones, deliverables, revisions, and deadlines.
• Ensure all required documents are assembled and ready for permit submission.
• Support responses to plan check corrections and coordinate design revisions when necessary.
• Maintain organized project records and documentation throughout the design process.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in residential architecture, residential design, drafting, construction documentation, or project management.
• Strong understanding of residential design, construction methods and permitting processes.
• Ability to read and interpret Architectural, Structural, Civil, and MEP plans.
• Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and managing project schedules.
• Excellent communication and client management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify design inconsistencies or missing information.
• Experience with ADUs, residential additions, remodels, or new home construction preferred.
• Proficiency with construction and design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or similar platforms is preferred.

• Projects consistently move from contract to permit submission on schedule.
• Clients remain informed and satisfied throughout the design process.
• Plan sets are complete, coordinated, and permit-ready before submission.
• Design revisions and permit corrections are minimized through proactive review and coordination.
• Third-party consultants remain accountable to project schedules and deliverable quality standards.

Schedule:

• 40 hours per week
• Monday–Friday
• Typical office hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM PT (flexible upon further discussion)
• Two paid 10–15 minute breaks
• 30-minute lunch break
